  • Sunrise at Angkor Watย โ€“ Begin with a breathtaking sunrise at Angkor Wat, followed by a detailed exploration of the temple.

Angkor Wat Temple:ย was the capital city of the Khmer Empire, which flourished from approximately the 9th to 15th centuries. Angkor was a megacity supporting at least 0.1% of the global population during 1010-1220.ย built by the King Surayavaraman II of the Khmer empire in 12th century and was dedicated to Vishnu God of Protection.

The South Gateย or Tonle Om Gate:ย  is one of the five ancient gates dated to the 12th century providing access through the 8m high laterite walls ofย Angkorย Thom. The South Gate features the best-restored causeway, revealing the awe-inspiring effect that surely must have been one of the original intentions of its ancient master architects. In its day, there would have been no doubt that you were entering the realm of the gods and looking upon one of the worldโ€™s truly great wonders, an effect it has still till this day.

Bayon Temple:ย The Bayon is a well-known and richly decorated Khmer temple at Angkor in Cambodia. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the official state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII.

Bapoun Temple:ย ย is one of the most impressive yet underrated temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park. Built in the 11th century by King Udayadityavarman II, this towering pyramid-style temple was originally dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva but later transformed into a Buddhist site. Its grandeur and intricate carvings make it a must-visit for history lovers and temple enthusiasts.

Terrace of the Elephants:ย As you would guess by the name this site is formed by three platforms surrounded by stone carved elephants and the portrayal of an elephant hunt.

Terrace of the Leeper King:ย It is said to be one of the most beautiful Khmer artworks. The name comes from king Yasovarman I who built the first city of Angkor and died of leeper. The relief is very detailed an well preserved.

Phimeanakas:ย The royal temple is one of the smallest temples of Angkor. On top of the 12 meters / 39 feet high Pyramid you have a great view on the whole archeological site of Angkor Thom.

Preah Palilay Temple:ย is located at North of Phimeanakas and enter and leave the monument from the east. Built in Middle to last half of the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. This temple dedicated to Buddhist and art style of Angkor Wat.

Ta Keo Templeย is a temple-mountain, in Angkor, possibly the first to be built entirely of sandstone by Khmers.

Ta Prohm Temple:ย the โ€œJungle Templeโ€, which was built by Jayavarman VII to honor his mother. The temple got swallowed by the jungle. The impressive Bayon architecture merges with the jungle. It is especially famous because of the movie โ€œLara Croft: Tomb Raiderโ€ featuring Angelina Jolie. It is an unforgettable set-up of nature taking in a former civilization.

Banteay Kdei Temple:ย meaning โ€œA Citadel of Chambersโ€, also known as โ€œCitadel of Monksโ€™ cellsโ€, is a Buddhist temple in Angkor, Cambodia. It is located southeast of Ta Prohm and east of Angkor Thom,

Srah Srang Temple:was dug in the mid-10th century, by initiative of Kavindrarimathana, Buddhist minister of Rajendravarman II. It was modified around the year 1200 by Jayavarman VII, who added the laterite landing-stage at its western side, probably because the East Baray had been overwhelmed by sediment and had begun malfunctioning.

Kravan Temple:ย is a 10th-century temple constructed in the era of Harshavarman I (reign circa 910-922 AD) consisting of five brick towers. The temple was dedicated to Vishnu in 921 AD, according to the inscription. Itโ€™s a site that is often skipped, which is a shame, as the style of bas-relief carvings here are quite unique, as the only other brick temple with inner bas-reliefs (that survives today) in Cambodia would be Preaus Meas (Phnom Trap).

 

DAY 2: GRAND CIRCUIT TOUR + SUNSETย

Pre Rup temple:ย is one of the most impressive and underrated temples in the Angkor Archaeological Park. Built in the 10th century by King Rajendravarman II, this stunning Hindu temple is a masterpiece of Khmer architecture and offers a quieter, more peaceful experience compared to the crowded Angkor Wat.

East Mebon Temple:ย originally an island temple, rises impressively amidst a dry reservoir. It is adorned with elephant statues and detailed carvings depicting mythological scenes. As you explore its multi-tiered structure, youโ€™ll notice how it represents the transition in temple architecture from brick to sandstone. East Mebon is an exceptional spot to admire both the creativity and practicality of the ancient Khmer builders.

Ta Soum Temple:ย is a medium-sized temple in the Bayon style. This means itโ€™s a Buddhist monument from the late 12th century. Architecture and decorations are typical of the reign of Jayavarman VII, whose fame is to have built more structures than any other Khmer king. Ta Som is one of the Khmer temples with face towers, which are considered to be a hallmark of the Bayon style, although they can not be seen at all monuments from this period.

Neak Pean Temple:ย at Angkor, Cambodia is an artificial island with a Buddhist temple on a circular island in Jayatataka Baray, which was associated with Preah Khan temple, built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII.

Koh Ker Temple:ย is a remote archaeological site in northern Cambodia about 120 kilometres (75 mi) away from Siem Reap and the ancient site of Angkor. It is a jungle filled region that is sparsely populated. More than 180 sanctuaries were found in a protected area of 81 square kilometres (31 sq mi).โ€Šย Only about two dozen monuments can be visited by tourists because most of the sanctuaries are hidden in the forest and the whole area is not fully demined.
